Trees, shrubs, flowers And Mushrooms
along the Trail
Trees, shrubs, flowers and mushrooms grow all over our planet, but when we meet them just outside our door – along the paths, in the meadows, at the edges of villages – they become familiar presences, silent companions of community life.
Like with friends or neighbours, it is worth learning their names, discovering something about their resources, their character, the ties that connect them to other species, and their seasonal rhythms.
Walking is the most natural way to encounter them: without forcing, without disturbing their time and space. After all, plants and people share the same environment, the same air and water, the same earth that sustains us.
We pass by, we observe them, we enjoy their beauty and sometimes their fragrance.
Many of these plants have also played an important role in our history: getting to know them means better understanding the roots of our culture and the reasons behind some of our traditions and ways of life.
The numbers shown on the cards indicate the stages where the trees are most commonly found.
